The Home Of is a rear house in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn, NYC, in which performances of various kinds take place. The house is some 200 yards east of the Gowanus Canal, which flows freely into New York Harbor, and downhill westerly from Prospect Park. In front of the house you will find plants – tomato, cherry pepper, cucumber, sweet potato vine, basil, chrysanthemum – as well as some lawn furniture, a canoe, and scattered children’s toys. Inside the house you will find accoutrements of domesticity – chairs, utensils, lamps, stuff on walls, beds, instruments, books, food, drink, etc.

Performances at The Home Of are curated by the most regular inhabitants of the house and primarily involve, together or exclusively, acts of theater, art, dance, poetry, music and speechifying. Visitors are also invited to enjoy, before and after each performance, the outdoor patio directly in front of the house. Every guest at The Home Of receives a free beverage (adult or non) upon arrival and is treated to the highest measure of personal hospitality and intellectual indulgence.
